Jalili Blasts Washington's Support for Tyrannical Regimes

"Washington cannot hide its decades-long support for such dictators and coercion against the nations through hypocrisy," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said in a meeting with President of the National Assembly of Ecuador Fernando Cordero here in Tehran today. Jalili said that "the United States is bogged down in a quagmire it has created through its support for dictators" and its aimless efforts will further worsen the situation for Washington. He said the present wave of awakening against the global arrogance (the US) has swept the entire world, and the US cannot escape it. During the meeting, Cordero said that Latin America has been a victim of capitalism which has brought about nothing but poverty and misery in the region. As regards the bilateral ties with Iran, he said that Ecuador favors expanding ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields. Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa visited Tehran in 2009, where he signed contracts 120-million-dollars in worth. Iran has in recent years expanded friendly ties with Latin America, specially in economic, trade and industrial fields. Since taking office in 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expanded Iran's cooperation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba and Brazil.
