Speaker Views US Misconduct as Root Cause of Uprisings in Region

The regional regimes' strong ties with the United Sates is a very major factor in triggering unrest in the region and the nations are now breathing at a new atmosphere here, Larijani said in a meeting with his Ecuadorian counterpart Fernando Cordero. "In addition to that, these deep rooted revolutions are results of the US conduct in the region and they would definitely be to the benefit of the regional nations." Larijani further stressed that recent regional developments are due to people's dissatisfaction with dictator regimes. As regards Iran-Ecuador ties, Larijani expressed satisfaction over the increasing level of bilateral ties. "Iran and Ecuador have numerous opportunities for strengthening friendly cooperation, particularly in agricultural, industrial and commercial fields," Larijani noted. During the meeting, Cordero said that the major objective of his visit of Iran was strengthening the bilateral friendly ties, adding, "The Ecuadorian government and parliament both support strengthening cooperation and expanding ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran comprehensively." "The two countries' shared viewpoints in political and international fields have provided a very appropriate ground for the expansion of bilateral cooperation." "Ecuador welcomes any proposal for expansion of ties with Iran," Cordero added. Iran has in recent years expanded friendly ties with Latin America, specially in economic, trade and industrial fields. Since taking office in 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expanded Iran's cooperation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela, Bolivia and Cuba.
