The lawmakers say the mercenaries of Israeli origin were planning to assassinate high-profile political figures and target key government installations, a Press TV correspondent reported. "We have reports that there are two mercenaries in Kenya of Israeli descent who are here to carry out assassinations targeting key politicians amongst the Prime minister and the Speaker of the National Assembly," said Millie Odhiambo, a member of Kenya's Parliament and a key supporter of the country's premier. Prime Minister Raila Odinga at a media briefing in Nairobi confirmed the reports, saying he was due to discuss the matter with Israeli envoy to Kenya. "I have heard like you too that there are mercenaries here but that is all can say but I have seen a request by the Israeli ambassador who wants to meet me to discuss the issue," said Odinga on Tuesday. Some 1,200 people were killed in Kenya's post-election violence in 2007. Several political groups and figures say Israel and its allies were behind the political and ethnic unrest in the important and strategic country four years ago.
