Iranian FM Meets Ecuadorian Delegation

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Ecuadorian Parliament Speaker Fernando Cordero in the Iranian capital on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the foreign ministry. Salehi welcomed the incoming Ecuadorian delegation's visits and expressed the Islamic Republic's readiness to share its experiences in the educational and scientific realms. On the recent development of the region, the Iranian minister said the United States' passive stance regarding the recent massacres proves the extent of its hypocrisy in dealing with the people of the region. Cordero, for his part, hailed Iran's achievements in the fields of medicine, agriculture, and academia and called on the Islamic Republic to share its experiences in the respective areas. In a separate meeting, the Iranian president described Iran and Ecuador as two “revolutionary nations” seeking to achieve high ideals, administer justice and promote friendship. President Ahmadinejad said Iran has a “long-term outlook” on promoting cooperation with Ecuador, adding that the two sides should work on bilateral as well as international levels. Iran has been trying to expand ties with Latin American countries in recent years, with Iranian officials describing the effort as a major foreign policy strategy. The two countries are currently cooperating on oil, gas, and petrochemical projects.
