Mir-Tajjeddini, who is Kuwait to attend ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of Kuwait independence and the 20th anniversary of Kuwait liberation from Iraqi Ba'athist regime's occupation, made the remark in a meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah. Mir-Tajeddini also submitted the Kuwaiti Emir a written message from President Ahmadinejad, containing a call for consultations between Iran and Kuwait on the regional and international and Muslim world related issues, the Islamic republic news agency reported. Tehran and Kuwait City reached an economic agreement in the final day of the 10th meeting of Iran-Kuwait trade committee held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran. Tehran has in recent years stepped up its efforts to establish and boost ties with the neighboring states, the Persian Gulf littoral states in particular. Iran and Kuwait enjoy cordial diplomatic relations. After Iran came under increasing pressure from the West in recent years over its civilian nuclear program, Kuwait demanded the US to respect Iranian sovereignty and seek a diplomat solution to the matter.
