Iran Warns S. Arabia against Continued Fingerprinting

"As regards the fingerprinting of Persepolis in the Jeddah airport, we will retaliate and fingerprint al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi told FNA. Tehran's Reds are due to meet al-Ittihad in their first match of the Asian Championships on Wednesday. The team's presence in Saudi Arabia delayed for 8 hours on Sunday after Persepolis managers voiced their strong opposition to Saudi officials' order for fingerprinting and iris scanning. Naqavi reminded the good ties between Iran and its neighboring Arab states, but at the same time stressed that Iran's respect for the neighbors depends on their level of respect for Iran. "We believe the fingerprinting of Persepolis athletes is a disrespectful act and the move will not remain unanswered," Naqavi reiterated.
