Iran-Serbia to Promote Volume of Trade

TEHRAN, March 8 (ICANA) – Vice-Chairman of Iran-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group reported on a meeting between Chairman of the Group with Alexander Pasik, the new Serbian Ambassador to Tehran with an aim to promote trade volume between the two countries.

Ahad Kheiri told ICANA that the meeting was held Monday upon the request of the new Serbian ambassador.

Review of strategies for development of economic, political, social, cultural and international cooperation between the two countries was among topics discussed in the meeting.

Kheiri stressed that strengthening economic and tourism exchanges and international interactions was among other issues discussed at this session.

Meanwhile, it was decided to discuss mechanisms for boosting economic exchanges between the two countries in another session in the presence of Serbian ambassador, officials of chambers of commerce of the two sides and chairman of Iran-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

He further remarked that currently economic exchanges between Iran and Serbia amounted to over $40 million, adding that through identification of potentials in both the countries more suitable steps could be taken to boost transactions.

According to the agreements reached so far, it was decided that Serbia offer information over its universities so that Iran would engage in scientific exchanges with Serbia if it deems necessary.
