New Irish Government to Take Power

The government will include the center-right Fine Gael party, and the center-left Labor Party, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Fine Gael's leader, Enda Kenny, is set to be elected prime minister when the new parliament meets in Dublin later today.

Kenny's cabinet is expected to have ten Fine Gael and five Labor members.

On Sunday, the two parties signed off a program for government, which includes wide-ranging proposals to deal with the country's massive fiscal deficit.

Last month, Irish voters vented their anger at their government's handling of the economic crisis in the country by voting it out of office.

Voters blamed the ruling Fianna Fail for Dublin's multi-billion euro debt incurred via a bailout from the IMF and the EU.
