Iran, Ecuador Discuss Parliamentary Cooperation

Kamalvandi made the remark in a meeting on Thursday with Ecuador's National Assembly Speaker Fernando Cordero Cueva in Ecuador.

'Despite unilateral sanctions imposed by some countries on Iran and constant hostility of US and its allies against Iran, Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys political and economic stability in regional and international relations,' he added.

Ecuador's National Assembly Speaker Fernando Cordero Cueva, for his part, said that his recent visit to Tehran at the head of a parliamentary delegation was very successful.

Referring to Iran's advances in different areas, Cordero Cueva called for taking the necessary steps for implementation of bilateral agreements between the two countries.

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with his Ecuadorian counterpart in Tehran last month expressed satisfaction over the increasing level of bilateral ties with Ecuador. He noted, “Iran and Ecuador have numerous opportunities for strengthening friendly cooperation, particularly in agricultural, industrial and commercial fields.” He emphasized that the Islamic Parliament would support all-out relations with Ecuador.

The Ecuadorian Parliament Speaker Fernando Cordero, too, said in the meeting that the major objective of his visit to Iran was strengthening the bilateral friendly ties, adding, “The Ecuadorian government and parliament both support strengthening cooperation and expanding ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Emphasizing the outstanding historic, cultural and civilizational roles of Iran in the world, Cordera said, “The two countries’ shared viewpoints in political and international fields have provided a very appropriate ground for expansion of bilateral cooperation.” He reiterated, “Ecuador welcomes any proposal for expansion of ties with Iran.” Both sides during the meeting while reviewing the future of bilateral relations emphasized the need for full implementation of the formerly reached agreements.
