Sri Lankan Opposition Accuses PM of Misleading Parliament

Jayaratne told the parliament earlier that the government received information that at least two training camps existed in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

According to Xinua, the Indian government denied the claim, saying "we categorically deny the existence of such camps." "We urge the government of Sri Lanka to desist from reacting to speculative and uncorroborated reports," it said.

Lakshman Kiriella, a main Sri Lankan opposition legislator, accused Jayaratne of misleading the parliament.

The Tamil Tiger rebels were militarily defeated by the government troops in May 2009, but it was believed the group's overseas networks still exist.
