“Threats against Iran are not on an upward curve. This curve is on a downward trend thanks to the resistance of the Islamic Republic and insistence of the Iranian nation on ideals of the Islamic Revolution,” Larijani told a conference on passive defense held in Tehran on Sunday.
He added that Iran is faced with far fewer threats than the past, emphasizing, “In the political arena, there is some kind of political cry against the Islamic Republic which are in effect insignificant.”
He emphasized that the time for making threats against Iran has come to past and noted that Iran currently enjoys a stable situation.
Pointing to the ongoing developments in the Middle East and North Africa, Larijani said Iran's position and political attitude to events in Muslim countries in the region indicated the Islamic Republic's honesty with other nations.
“This issue is seen by certain superpowers as a threat because they seek to use resources of regional countries to obtain their own objectives. To them, Iran is a trouble and a problem,” the Iranian Majlis speaker pointed out.
He reiterated Iran's support for regional nations' will, saying, “We regard the will of nations as their right. They have the right to enjoy a popular and independent government. The nations are determined to free themselves from under the yoke of the US.”
The Majlis speaker noted that the time for US aggressive policies is over and emphasized that Iran would maintain its stance on support for popular revolutions in the region.
