Senior MP: Regional Nations Resolved to Gain Independence

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a parliament session here in Tehran today, Rapporteur of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali said that the recent uprisings sparked with religious mottos and in pursuit of Islam.

He said nations of the region demand democracy and want to play a role in determining the fate of their states, yet their move is Islamic in essence.

Jalali blasted Washington's practical support for dictatorial regimes in the region, and noted, "The West's allies in the region are exercising dictatorship and that is not acceptable to the region, because Muslim nations want to have a role in the fate of their state."

He further urged the West-backed dictators in the region to end bloodshed and leave the stage of politics.

Inspired by the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, people in Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and now Morocco have been staging massive street protests to press the dictatorial regimes in their countries to step down.

Political analysts believe that the Middle-East and North of Africa should still wait for more uprisings and revolutions to happen.
