US Protesters Urge End to Libya War

The US has led the effort to maintain a UN mandated no-fly zone in Libya since last week. President Obama says that the military action is to protect civilians, but protesters here say it's the start of war with a sovereign nation.

Protests like this were planned across the country and around the world. 15 locations in the U-S were sites for people to express their grievances with El Salvador and Canada adding to the international community.

This week, Canada said it would be taking over operations from the United States.

The lead position is now being handled by Canadian general, Lieutenant-General Charles Bouchard, the deputy commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) -- a joint command US/Canadian base headquartered in the state of Colorado. Critics say this means the US is still in control.

Many in the US are still confused over the direction of military operations in Libya and what the true objectives are. They're looking for more clarification from President Obama when he addresses the nation on Monday.
