TEHRAN, March 28 (ICANA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has termed the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan as deep-rooted and historical.

In a meeting with Kazakh parliament vice-speaker, on the sidelines of Nowruz International Festival, President Ahmadinejad pointed out that the two countries maintain common interests and are faced with common enemies. He also emphasized on development and reinforcement of the two sides' relations in all domains, including industrial, agricultural, cultural, and international cooperation realms.

President Ahmadinejad added: “The two countries maintain highly close viewpoints regarding global and regional topics of importance, and have numerous ideological and cultural commonalties, while calling for swift implementation of the agreements reached between the two nations."

Meanwhile, the Kazakh parliament vice-speaker noted that Kazakhstan attaches especial importance to development of ties with Iran, and the two countries have numerous capacities in different fields, including transportation, industry, and culture, which can be put to use for the benefit of the two nations.

Referring to Kazakhstan's ten-year plan for development and industrialization, the Kazakh parliament vice-speaker noted that Islamic Republic of Iran has gained many achievements in the fields of technology and science, and Kazakhstan is keen to boost its cooperation with Iran in this realm.

The second International Nowruz Celebrations kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran Sunday, in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iran first organized the International Nowrouz Celebrations after the International Day of Nowrouz was registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on February 23, 2010.

Nowrouz, which coincides with the first day of spring on the solar calendar, is mostly celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
