Larijani: Iran Firm in Its Resolve to Expand Africa Ties

Hailing the "friendly and longstanding" relations between Iran and Tanzania and Zanzibar, Iddi conveyed the warm greetings of his country's leaders to Larijani. He also called for development of relations and exchange of political, economic, and parliamentary delegations between the two sides.

On behalf of the Tanzanian parliament speaker, Iddi extended an invitation to Larijani to pay an official visit to Tanzania.

Larijani voiced support for expansion of relations between the two countries and noted that cultural commonalties were an appropriate tool in further consolidating mutual cooperation and interaction.

The speaker said the Islamic Republic of Iran was firm in its resolve to strengthen bilateral ties with Tanzania and Zanzibar, particularly in the field of trade and economy.

He also expressed hope to visit Tanzania in an appropriate time.

The second International Nowruz Celebrations kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran Sunday, in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iran first organized the International Nowrouz Celebrations after the International Day of Nowrouz was registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on February 23, 2010.

Nowrouz, which coincides with the first day of spring on the solar calendar, is mostly celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
