The House on Monday evening unanimously adopted a condemnation resolution seeking strict action against the perpetrator of this heinous act.

'This House condemns this shameful act in strongest possible terms and calls upon the government of the United States to take efficient action against the person concerned to prove its claim of being civilized system,' says the resolution, read out by Leader of the

House in Senate, Syaed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari.

This House also called upon the governments of Muslim world to convey their revulsion and disgust to the United States government and call upon it to bring perpetrators of this crime to justice without any delay.

The Upper House also demanded the United Nations to take notice of this heinous act.

Speaking on points of order, the Senators were unanimous to say that mere condemnation is not enough rather action needs to be taken against US national Terry Jones.

The members were given chance to speak in view of the decision made in the House Business Advisory Committee meeting.

After the first day proceedings of the 69th session of the Upper House of Parliament started, the opposition Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Senator Ishaq Dar, speaking on a point of order, mentioned to the decision and requested the chair that they may be allowed to speak on the issue.

Speaking on the issue, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq of the PML-N said no civilized state allows such cheap act to hurt sentiments of any religious community.

Criticizing the indifference by the United States on the issue, Raja Zafarul Haq said the whole West is responsible for the act and mere condemnation is insufficient to address the grievances of Muslim world.

He said action should be taken against those who did not prohibit him for committing this heinous crime, adding respect for other religions is inevitable to promote interfaith harmony across the world.

Maulana Gul Naseeb of the opposition Jamiat ulema-e-Islam party said every human being, be a Muslim or not, considers the sacrilegious act as condemnable as no religion allows disrespect to any other religion.

He said European countries were fanning terrorism and religious hatred by protecting people like the priest who desecrated the Holy Quran and warned it would result in unrest and panic across the world if not curbed.
