Lawmaker Warns PGCC against Conspiracy against Iran

"They have always sought to show Iran as an anti-security element," Rapporteur of the parliament's minority faction Daryoush Qanbari told FNA on Sunday, adding that spreading Iranophobia has always been among the main reasons behind the establishment of the council.

He said some Arab leaders have conspired plots to accuse Iran of interference in the internal affairs of the regional countries, and continued, "They attempt to accuse Iran of meddling in the regional countries' affairs, while all these protests are self-driven and the result of cruelty of tyrant rulers against the oppressed people."

Qanbari lambasted the PGCC for hatching different plots against Iran, and warned the members of the council against taking provocative actions against Tehran.

Iran has criticized Saudi military intervention in Bahrain, and called on Riyadh to pull its troops out of the Persian Gulf island immediately.

The Saudi forces' crackdown started after demonstrators in Bahrain started demanding constitutional reforms as well as an end to the 230-year-old monarchy, with hundreds camping out peacefully in the capital's Pearl Square since February 14.

Bahraini security forces have been brutally suppressing anti-government protesters. So far, at least 24 people have been killed, almost 100 have gone missing and about 1,000 others have been injured.

The violence against protesters escalated when Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar dispatched their armed forces to the country to help Manama crack down on peaceful protesters.
