Yemeni MP: Revolution Continues despite Suppression

"The wave of violence and suppression is unprecedented since the onset of the revolution by the Yemeni people," Sultan Sameyee, who is also a member of Yemen's Socialist Party, told FNA.

"Despite suppression of protestors, the revolution of the Yemeni people has grown and will continue its path in a way that we will witness civil disobedience by the people in coming days," Sameyee continued.

He added that suppression of the people will increase the number of protestors and opposition members and accelerate the collapse of Saleh's regime.

"Public opinion both in the region and the world supports the revolution of the Yemeni people, and the regime of Ali Abdullah Saleh seems to have not much time left to its end," he reiterated.

More than 125 people have been killed since protests began in January. Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets in different cities across Yemen on Sunday despite the government's recent brutal crackdown on anti-government protesters.

The Sunday rallies were held in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a, the western city of Hudaydah along with Taiz and Ibb, both in the Southwest of the country.

Protesters are calling for corruption and unemployment in the country to be tackled and demanding Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down.
