Iranian MP Slams UN Silence on Massacre of Bahraini People

"It should be asked why human rights societies have opted for silence?" Head of the parliament's Human Rights Committee Zohreh Elahian told FNA on Monday.

She reiterated that the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights (UNHCHR) should account for the suppression and bad conditions of the Bahraini people, specially Bahraini women.

Elahian also underlined that the parliament's Human Rights Committee has on different occasions sent letters to the international organizations and deplored the violent behavior of the Bahraini security forces and other countries' military forces towards the innocent Bahraini people and has called for the formation of a fact-finding committee to probe into the Bahraini government's crimes and try the criminals in an international tribunal.

To help the Bahraini government crush the anti-government protests, Saudi Arabia has deployed more than 1,000 troops to the country at the request of Manama.

In a similar move, the UAE has dispatched around 500 police forces to the oil-rich Persian Gulf monarchy.

Bahrain's government has continued its military crackdown on anti-government protesters who demand the overthrow of the al-Khalifa dynasty on top of constitutional reforms.

Several Bahrainis have lost their lives so far and hundreds of others have sustained injuries following the violent crackdown on the anti-government protesters.
