On Saturday, Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said Tehran was making efforts to solve the Afghans' consular problems and legalize their entry into and departure from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The plan for organizing Afghan nationals has been prepared and will be implemented following approval by the relevant authorities,” he said.

He made the remarks in Tehran during a two-day bilateral meeting on consular cooperation, which Afghan Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Javed Lodin also attended.

Qashqavi said visa restrictions should be eased in order to increase interactions between the two nations, which enjoy a high level of trade.

Lodin said Afghanistan appreciates the fact that Iran has shown hospitality toward Afghan nationals.

Last month, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar visited Afghanistan and met Afghan Interior Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, who praised Iran for its assistance in the reconstruction process and efforts to help establish security in the country.
