Supreme Leader Reinstates Intelligence Minister

Moslehi tendered his resignation on Sunday, but no reason was initially given for his decision, Fars News Agency reported.

Shortly after his resignation, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accepted the resignation and appointed him as the presidential advisor in intelligence affairs without naming a caretaker for the ministry.

However, the Leader rejected the intelligence minister's resignation later in the day, and placed him again in his position.

Moslehi has been a close aide to Ahmadinejad and has served as Iran's intelligence minister since 2009.

In December 2010, President Ahmadinejad dismissed foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki, appointing Ali Akbar Salehi, the former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
