Bahrain Anti-Iran Remarks Distracting

“By making accusations against Iran, Bahraini rulers are after distracting the world's public opinion from the great uprisings in the region,” Deputy Head of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Esmail Kowsari told Mehr News Agency on Wednesday.

Kowsari dismissed as unreal accusations that Iran is meddling in the internal affairs of Bahrain, and called on Bahraini officials to offer any evidence on Iran's interference in Bahrain to the United Nations.

The Iranian lawmaker said that the regional Arab nations are following the Islamic Republic as a model in their demonstrations and slogans.

He reiterated that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates' military interference in Bahrain is illegal, “even if [Bahrain's ruling] Al Khalifa [family] approves of such interference."

Anti-government protests against the rule of the Al Khalifa dynasty in Bahrain began in mid-February.

The Bahrain Center for Human Rights in Manama has reported that the anti-government protesters detained by the government forces are tortured. The rights group said that there have been bruises and lashing marks on the bodies of those detainees who have died while in government custody, after they were collected by their families.

In March, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait deployed their troops to Bahrain to reinforce the brutal armed crackdowns on Bahraini anti-government protesters.

Scores of protesters have been killed and many others gone missing during the harsh crackdowns.

Moreover, most Bahraini media outlets have been blocked and several mosques have been demolished by the Bahraini government.

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have condemned the Bahraini and Saudi regimes for their heavy-handed tactics against the Bahraini population.
