MRC Suggests Iran to Strike Balance of Power in Region

The center put forward the suggestions in a report published on Sunday after studying the developments that are taking place in certain Middle Eastern countries, which have been experiencing pro-democracy protests.

The Majlis Research Center has suggested strengthening relations with Qatar, providing logical and strategic support for Syria, increasing relations with the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki, strengthening the country’s sphere of influence in Lebanon, and considering the reestablishment of ties with Egypt since having relations with Cairo would enable Iran to better monitor the developments in the occupied territories.

The center also said that the Islamic Republic should keep a close eye on the moves by the United States and Saudi Arabia in the region.

In addition, it recommended that Iran weigh up the pros and cons of supporting the current governments or backing the opposition groups.

The Islamic Republic should not rule out the possibility that no tangible change would take place in Bahrain and peace would return to the country, and therefore should adopt an appropriate approach toward the developments unfolding in the Persian Gulf kingdom, the report said.

The Majlis Research Center also predicted that the enemies would launch a new propaganda campaign against Iran with a special focus on creating a frightening image of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, so Iran must remain vigilant.

The report also said that due attention must be paid to enemies’ efforts which are intended to destabilize the Iranian border provinces, particularly Kordestan and Sistan-Baluchestan.

Therefore, Iran must strictly monitor the moves by terrorist groups such as PEJAK (the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan), the Mojahedin Khalq Organization, and Jundullah, it added.
