Bahraini Officials Have Taken a Dangerous Path: MP

The Iranian lawmaker made the remarks in response to Bahrain’s Defense Force Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa who said on Monday that a permanent base for the joint Peninsula Shield Forces would be set up in Bahrain to counter Iran, which he claimed, is trying to destabilize the region.

“We are not dealing with individuals or groups, we are dealing with countries that are meddling in Bahrain’s internal affairs,” the Bahraini official said.

Falahatpisheh said, “Bahraini officials have taken a dangerous path, because they want to convert Bahrain into a large military base, not to counter Iran but to quell their own people’s revolutionary movement.”

This measure will provoke the Bahraini people’s anger and will take its toll on the government, he said.

He went on to say that a permanent deployment of the Peninsula Shield Forces in Bahrain will make the outbreak of a revolution in the country “inevitable.”

He added that Bahraini officials have claimed that the measure is meant to counter Iran’s threat, but the Bahraini people know that Iran is not meddling in their internal affairs.
