Iran Non-Oil Exports Rise Fourfold

“[Iran's] non-oil exports reached USD7 billion in 2004, and rose to USD30 billion in 2010,” said the president in a meeting with exemplary workers in Tehran on Tuesday.

President Ahmadinejad said Iran's non-oil exports should reach USD45 billion.

“For this goal to be achieved, all potentialities in the country must be utilized and there should be a leap in production,” he said.

He said the nation's non-oil exports could reach 65 billion dollars in coming years if the right steps are taken.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the president said Iran should serve as a role model when it comes to economy and production.

“The realization of this goal requires work and creativity,” the president underscored.

President Ahmadinejad underlined that the government had allocated USD 21.5 billion to development projects across the nation last year, adding that this year USD 47.5 billion had been set aside for infrastructural projects.

He reiterated that the government is set to press ahead with the subsidy reform plan which was implemented in December 2010.

“The plan, which is aimed at administrating justice and economic development, and is in the interest of the people, … should be resolutely continued,” President Ahmadinejad said.
