MP: Iran to Examine Saudi, Bahrain Crimes

Iranian officials will “thoroughly review the massacre of Bahraini people by the Al Saud and Al Khalifa [regimes]” at a two-day meeting named the “Persian Gulf,” which is scheduled to be held on May 12 and May 13 in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, Mostafa Kavakebian said on Friday.

At the meeting, members of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and Iranian Foreign Ministry officials will further examine the recent developments in the Middle East.

Among the issues up for discussion at the Persian Gulf meeting will be Iran's territorial integrity, the security in Persian Gulf and other regional issues.

Since mid-February, thousands of anti-government protesters in Bahrain have poured into the streets, calling for an end to Al Khalifa dynasty, which has ruled the country for almost 40 years.

On March 13, Saudi-led forces were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom at Manama's request to quell the nationwide protests.

According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested so far during the government clampdown on the peaceful demonstrations.
