“The situation in Egypt and Tunisia will create more hopes so that the …uprisings which are the continuation of the Ruhollah [Khomeini] Revolution will gradually cross all borders,” Press TV quoted Ayatollah Kazem Seddiqi as saying on Friday.
Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader was citing earlier remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who said the wave of Awakening in the Middle East will eventually reach the heart of Europe.
“European nations humiliated by the US domination will rise sooner or later and make demands to compensate for these indignations,” the cleric added, noting that Islam is a religion for humanity and does not exclusively belong to Muslims countries.
Ayatollah Seddiqi condemned the West for launching a military offensive in Libya and turning it into a “war of attrition.”
“They aim to maintain the Libyan regime in order to receive the highest payoff.”
“Western forces are opposed to freedom and are the supporters of dictators,” he stated.
The cleric further lashed out at the Bahraini government as “a usurper, illegitimate regime which depends on arrogant powers, massacres Muslims, attacks mosques and burns Qur'ans.”
On Yemen, Ayatollah Seddiqi expressed regret over the violent repression of anti-regime protesters but expressed hope that the popular resistance in the Muslim nation would finally force President Ali Abdullah Saleh to give up his decades-long rule on the impoverished country.
