Chile Eager to Expand Parliamentary Ties with Iran

TEHRAN, May 7 (ICANA) – Chile's President of the Chamber of Deputies Patricio Melero Abaroa has called for expansion of parliamentary relations between Iran and Chile.

Speaking to Iran’s Ambassador to Chile, Houshang Karimi Abhari, in Santiago on Saturday, Melero hoped for further engagement between Iranian and Chilean parliaments.

Pointing to visit of Iranian parliamentary friendship group to Chile, he hoped the visit will help Iran and Chile have better insight about each other.

An Iranian parliamentary delegation is scheduled to leave for Chile Monday.

Iran-Chile friendship group led by MP Hossein Amiri Khamkani will set out for Santiago on May 9.

The five-member delegation will hold talks with political and parliamentary officials of Chile on promotion of mutual ties.

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, in separate messages, congratulated the election of presidents of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies of Chile.

 

Larijani sent messages of felicitation to Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies Patricio Melero Abaroa and of the Senate Guido Girardi Lavín.

In his messages, the Majlis speaker stressed the important role of parliamentary cooperation in expansion of friendly bilateral ties and expressed hope that by joining hands, "we would witness strengthening of mutual ties in all fields."
