Iran Warns of Israel's Divisive Plots

“One of the main objectives of the Zionist regime (Israel) and its allies is to sow discord among regional countries to prepare the ground for extremism in the regime,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters on Tuesday.

He called on regional states to prevent Israel from pursuing its objectives through prudence.

"Regional countries should adopt appropriate measures to identify threats posed by this illegitimate Israeli regime," the spokesperson emphasized.

He pointed to Iran's steps to counter Israel's threats and said the Islamic Republic will continue its consultations with different countries in the region in this regard.

Mehmanparast noted that Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi would pay a visit to Iraq in the near future to exchange views with senior Iraqi officials on ways to expand mutual relations and the latest developments in the Middle East.

Referring to recent visits by Salehi to Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, the Iranian spokesperson added that the trips aimed to discuss the region's ongoing events.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches importance to expanding mutual and regional relations. We believe that we can establish stability, security and development in the region through improving cooperation," Mehmanparast went on to say.

"The more vigorous countries of the region are in defending their national interests, the more our region would become strong," he emphasized.

He expressed hope that consultations among regional countries would lead to proper decisions with regard to popular demands and the establishment of stability and security in the region.
