The speaker was accompanied by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Mohammad Hosseini.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad officially opened the 24th Tehran International Book Fair at the Iranian capital's Grand Prayer Grounds on May 4. The fair will be open to public until May 14.

More than 2,300 Iranian and 1,600 international publishers from 67 countries have participated in the event, according to Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Visitors can meet authors and scholars on the sidelines of the event. Almost 500 guests are said to have visited the fair from different countries.

The 2010 edition of the annual event hosted around 2,000 publishers, including 980 international publishers with some 170,000 titles on display.
