Pakistan MPs Urge End to Drone Strikes

The lawmakers demanded an immediate end to the strikes and warned they will block the NATO supplies transport route from Pakistan to Afghanistan in case the drone attacks are repeated, a Press TV correspondent reported on Saturday.

Pakistan is the only way through which the United States can dispatch fuel and other supplies to NATO forces operating in neighboring Afghanistan.

The Pakistani lawmakers described the drone attacks as "unacceptable" and threatened to review Islamabad's cooperation with Washington if the strikes do not stop.

At least four people were killed and several others wounded in the latest unauthorized drone attack in Pakistan's North Waziristan region on Friday.

Washington has repeatedly claimed the strikes target Taliban militants. However, many civilians have been killed in the attacks.

Pakistani people have also denounced the strikes in anti-US demonstrations across the Asian country.

Another unauthorized operation by the US in Pakistani soil allegedly led to the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on May 1.

The Pakistani parliament resolution has also criticized the bin Laden raid and warned that repeating such actions could have "dire consequences for peace and security in the region and the world."
