The Iranian chief executive said the West does not believe Iran has pulled off so many successes despite sanctions, reported IRNA.

“They wonder how it is possible for Iran to proceed faster under the toughest sanctions and despite all doors being closed? But they do not know the Iranian people are like an ocean which cannot be stopped with any barrier,” the president further told a gathering in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Saturday.

He urged all Iranians to work towards fostering national development, adding that Iran should turn into a role model for other nations in the world.

“We have passed through certain stages of progress, and [we] are on the threshold of giant leaps,” President Ahmadinejad went on to say.

The president touched upon Iran's progress in the industry sector, including auto manufacturing, and added that the ground is prepared for the Iranian nation to take a giant step forward.

“We hope we will be able to take major steps in this field (industry) over the next two or three years, and, afterwards, offer higher-level services to the Iranian nation,” he said.

President Ahmadinejad then underlined the importance of domestic production and boosting exports.

“We should reach a point where Iranian commodities … with excellent quality are sold across the world. … This is something possible,” he noted.

The president underscored that Iran's non-oil exports crossed the $32.6 million mark in 2010, growing four-fold compared to the figure in 2005.
