MP: Efforts to Spread Iranophobia "Futile"

"In the era of the awakening of the world and Muslim people, the concept of Iranophobia which has been created in Tel Aviv's think-tanks has now lost its status and credibility," Hassan Kamran told FNA.

"Today, we are witnessing increasing emergence of Islamic states in Arab and African countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen and Jordan, where people with their empty hands are standing against the most advanced weapons which are used for the massacre of the innocent people," the lawmaker noted.

Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that the West has hatched plots to portray Iran as an aggressive country to spread Iranophobia in the region.

In relevant remarks in April, Supreme Leader's Advisor for Military Affairs Major General Seyed Yahya Rahim Safavi said that the US, Israel and their western allies are seeking to spread Iranophobia in the region as a strategy to sow discord between Iran and Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, in an effort to make up for the losses they have incurred due to the recent and current uprisings and change of regimes in the region.

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.

Other revolutions are erupting in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests have just started in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
