IAEA's New Iran Report Dubious

The confidential nine-page IAEA report says that Iran is pushing ahead with its nuclear activities and "there were indications that certain of these activities may have continued beyond 2004."

The report again repeated what it commonly refers to as an overall assessment, claiming that the UN nuclear body cannot maintain that all nuclear items of Iran are peaceful.

The report was circulated to IAEA member states ahead of a board of governors' meeting next month.

This is while Iranian envoy to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, told IRNA on Tuesday that the latest IAEA report on Iran's nuclear program shows that Tehran's atomic activities are progressing without any interruption and remain under IAEA's full supervision.

The United States, the Israeli regime and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program.

Yet, as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, Iran has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes.

In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence indicating that Iran's civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
