If the necessary legislation regarding this issue is not presented, the Majlis can prepare a proposal, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday.

In three separate decrees on May 14, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismissed Welfare Minister Sadeq Mahsouli, Mines and Industries Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian, and Oil Minister Massoud Mirkazemi from their posts according to “Article 53 of the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan.”

Ahmadinejad then appointed Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari as caretaker mines and industries minister and Labor and Social Affairs Minister Abdolreza Sheikholeslam as caretaker welfare and social security minister.

“Since we do not have enough time, the government should determine the executive structure of the new ministries,” Larijani added.

Commenting on the fact that the Iranian president has assumed the responsibilities of the oil minister, Larijani said that according to Iran's Guardian Council, a caretaker should be appointed for the ministry.

Earlier on Wednesday, Larijani was reelected as Majlis speaker.
