President: Iran, Africa Standing in Same Front against Hegemony

"The cooperation between Iran and Africa is expanding and Iran and African states are all in one front," President Ahmadinejad said, addressing the African ambassadors and diplomatic missions to Tehran on Thursday.

Ahmadinejad called for unity among African nations and governments in the face of a new wave of colonialism in the continent.

"If the African states work in coordination with each other, the hands of the plunderers will be cut from their rich resources" and the Africa would become a "major political power" in the world, Ahmadinejad said.

Iran has in the past few years shown increasing willingness to expand ties and cooperation with Africa and offered to transfer experience and technology to several African countries.

Since taking office in 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has striven hard to maximize Tehran's relations with the African continent.

Tehran has prioritized promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union's strategic partners.
