Lukashenko Invited to Attend Counter-Terrorism Conference in Tehran

According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry's Press and Information Bureau, the invitation letter was submitted by Tehran's Ambassador to Minsk Seyed Abdullah Hosseini to Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov.

Tehran and Minsk enjoy good political relations, but the two sides' officials are not satisfied with the volume of the two countries' economic cooperation.

In October, Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, in a meeting with visiting Belarusian Industry Minister Alexander Radevich, praised the close ties between the two countries, and stressed Tehran's support for the further expansion of bilateral relations.

"Relations between Iran and Belarus are excellent and unique, and by setting high goals, the two countries can exert further leverage in international affairs," Rahimi stated at the time.

The Iranian official further said that Iran and Belarus have signed good deals which if are put into force, remarkable progress will be made in bilateral relations and cooperation.
