Brunei Keen to Boost Tourism Cooperation with Iran

Bakar raised his country's offer for tourism cooperation with Iran during a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital city of Brunei, on Saturday.

Bakar pointed to the different attractive and religious sites and the various and abundant tourism facilities in Iran and the country's Islamic culture, and stressed that Brunei is much eager to develop ties with Iran in the field of tourism.

"We should explore ways to fulfill this cooperation," Bakar noted.

Salehi, too, said that fields for mutual cooperation should be identified and the necessary plans for such cooperation should be drawn and put into effect.

He said that Iran and Brunei can promote their bilateral ties by expanding mutual cooperation in areas of economy, joint venture, industries, technical and engineering services, education, health and tourism.

Salehi had met with other Brunei officials, including Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, earlier in the day to explore ways of boosting Iran's ties with the Southeast Asian state.

During the meeting with the Brunei King, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah praised Iran's astonishing progress and advancements in different scientific and technological fields.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is respected by many world countries, including Brunei," he reiterated.

During the meeting, the two sides also stressed the need for continued consultations and cooperation between Iran and Brunei at international circles and organizations.
