Speaking to FNA on Monday, Vice-Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Ebrahimi said, "In a bid to clarify the issues related to the foreign ministry's domain of activity, the foreign minister has been invited to come to the national security commission tomorrow and respond to a number of questions, including (his assessment of) the latest conditions in the region."

He added that Salehi is also due to brief the MPs on "the achievements and outcomes of his recent visits to the regional states".

Elsewhere, Ebrahimi pointed to some media reports about a likely visit to Saudi Arabia by the Iranian foreign minister, and stressed, "A visit to Saudi Arabia by the foreign minister will definitely be a negative move with no positive outcomes."

Meantime, Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi strongly rejected the recent reports about Salehi's likely visit to Riyadh, stressing that the Iranian foreign minister has no plan to visit Saudi Arabia.

Salehi had earlier visited the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait and met with their senior officials on bilateral ties and recent developments in the region, specially the revolution in Bahrain.
