Head of the Parliament (Majlis) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said “a number of American citizens” have been killed in US jails after receiving electric shocks.

“Base on a report released by the US Department of Justice, organized torture is widespread in the country [US]. For example, electric shocks are being used in the country and we received more than 300 reports about the use of electric shockers and deaths of a number of American citizens after receiving electric shocks since 2001,” Boroujerdi said.

He added that the US has the highest number of prisoners in the world and the number of detainees in the country has increased four-fold since 1980.

Boroujerdi also said that US Department of Justice has confirmed the use of different methods of torture in US jails such as using chain gangs, electric shock stun-belts and insects for torture as well as depriving prisoners of food and water.

“The US is the biggest violator of human rights in the world, there is even organized violation of human rights in the county,” he said.

The lawmaker said Iran has decided to prosecute some American officials over human rights abuses in the US.

The Iranian Parliament (Majlis) has released a full list of 26 US officials wanted by Tehran for various crimes ranging from rights violations to acts of terror to involvement in drug-trafficking.

Boroujerdi also slammed Britain over its human rights record and the condition of its prisons.

The Iranian lawmaker referred to a report by the Amnesty International, saying the British authorities mistreat refugees as well as immigrants and violence against women is rampant in the country.
