During the conversation, Salehi expressed the hope that the continued rule of the incumbent Turkish government would result in the further expansion of the good ties between the two neighboring states.

Davutoglu, for his part, said that a very bright outlook is perceived for the expansion of Iran-Turkey bilateral ties, given the two countries' wide capacities.

Turkey's Islamic Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan won a third consecutive general election victory on Sunday.

With 99 percent of the votes counted, Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) was leading with 50% of the vote for a third straight win.

It was the party's highest electoral score since it came to power in 2002 but appeared to fall just short of the 367-seat majority in the 550-member parliament it was seeking to unilaterally amend the constitution.
