European Parliament President Visits Gaza

Upon his arrival, he visited a number of projects financed by the European Union, as well a UN food distribution center in a refugee camp.

The visit was coordinated and organized by the United Nations Relief and Works agency for Palestine refugees, UNRWA.

The European official concluded his visit by holding a press conference at UNRWA's headquarters and stressed the necessity to end the siege in order to improve the economy of Gaza.

Buzek's visit to Gaza is part of his 3 -day trip to the Palestinian territories where he will meet Israeli and Palestinian officials.

Almost 4 years on, Israel still refuses to end the siege on Gaza defying Int'l calls.

Palestinians in Gaza continue to suffer from endless crises because of the siege.

According to a new UN report, because of the siege, unemployment in Gaza is among the highest in the world, adding that Israel's policies toward the enclave have impoverished most of Gaza's 1.5 million populations.
