Iranian, Russian, Kazakh Leaders Discuss Ties, Regional Issues

TEHRAN, June 15 (ICANA) – Iranian, Russian and Kazakh presidents attended a meeting on the sidelines of the 10th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) underway in the Kazakh city of Astana on Wednesday to discuss ties and regional and international issues.

The 10th summit of the SCO started work in Kazakhstan's capital city of Astana on Wednesday.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held separate meetings with his regional counterparts and discussed the latest regional and international developments.

On Wednesday, Ahmadinejad met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and discussed issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Ahmadinejad and Karzai conferred on latest regional developments.

On Tuesday, the Iranian President held separate meetings with his counterparts from China and Kazakhstan.

Ahmadinejad arrived in Astana on Tuesday and met with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev and the country's Prime Minister Karim Masimov.

The Iranian president is accompanied by several high-ranking officials, including Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, Chief of his Staff Esfandyar Rahim Mashayee and his senior Aide Mojtaba Hashemi Samareh.
