TEHRAN, June 21 (ICANA) – Iran's deputy foreign minister for administration and financial affairs has resigned after three days in post under pressure from hard-liners and lawmakers who sought to impeach Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi.

The dispute over Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh is believed by analysts to be part of a burgeoning power struggle involving Iran's president, the parliament and the powerful Muslim clergy.

The semiofficial Fars news agency reported Tuesday that Malekzadeh's resignation had been accepted.

Malekzadeh is facing corruption charges and has denied the allegations.

Iranian media also reported Tuesday that the ministry of intelligence in a letter to Salehi has stated its objection against Malekzadeh as deputy FM.
