Human Rights West's Political Tool: Iran

“Currently, [the issue of] human rights has become a political weapon and everybody is aware of this,” ISNA quoted Ali Akbar Salehi as saying on Wednesday.

“Our country does not stand lower than other countries in terms of human rights; and we know countries where basics of human rights are not observed, but there is no outcry against these countries,” he added.

Salehi referred to the situation of Muslim minorities in European countries and regretted the dressing limitation imposed on them.

The Iranian foreign minister blamed the world's misconception of human rights violations on the powerful media outlets run by Zionists.

Salehi, briefing reporters on an upcoming anti-terror conference scheduled to open in Tehran on Saturday, said the meeting will be attended by presidents from six countries and several other prime and foreign ministers.

He further expressed hope that the international conference would yield positive outcomes and that regional countries would hold similar conferences.

“Our region has suffered the most blows from terrorism,” he said.
