Muslims Take Pride in Iran's Progress: Malaysian Speaker

"The hearts of all Muslim nations especially the Malaysian Muslims are with the Islamic Republic of Iran and (Muslims) support Iran," Mehr news agency quoted Pandikar Amin Mulia as saying during a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur Mohammad-Mehdi Zahedi on Thursday.

Iran successfully put its second satellite (Rassad) into space on June 15. The satellite was launched by the Safir-e-Rassad satellite carrier and has the mission to take images of the earth's surface and relay them to the earth-based stations together with telemetric information.

Iran launched its first domestically-produced satellite Omid (Hope) in 2009, which made it the ninth country to develop satellite launch capability.

Mulia emphasized the importance of "unity among all Muslim nations," calling for further expansion of Tehran-Kuala Lumpur parliamentary cooperation.

Mulia and Zahedi also discussed the latest developments in the Muslim countries and the Malaysian parliament speaker criticized the West's double-standard policy on the recent developments in North Africa and the Middle East.

The Iranian envoy ambassador, on behalf of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani, invited Mulia to visit Tehran.
