World on Brink of Great Developments: President

“All nations, particularly regional governments and people, should be cautious about the conspiracies of enemies and arrogant powers,” said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the southwestern Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari province on Wednesday.

He added that hegemonic and arrogant powers hide behind the mask of human rights advocacy in order to pursue their interests and those of Israel, IRNA reported.

Ahmadinejad said arrogant powers are running out of opportunities to commit their evil acts are but stressed that “this does not mean an end to the conspiracies of these powers.”

He urged regional nations and governments to remain vigilant as arrogant powers will violate the principles that they themselves believe in to ensure their sustenance.

Ahmadinejad said that the history of arrogant powers is filled with the violation of rights, killing of humans and plundering of nations.

The president further pointed to accusations leveled against Iran's nuclear program and said, “In the nuclear issue, the enemy proved that it is not fearful of atomic bombs; rather, it is afraid of the Iranian nation's capabilities.”

The Iranian people proved that they have the ability to carry out the “most complicated and sensitive scientific and industrial” activities and fulfill important tasks.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks during the inaugural ceremony of Iran's highest concrete dam in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari.

The Karoun 4 Dam has been built by Iranian experts at the cost of about USD 900 million some 180 kilometers (112 miles) southeast of Shahrekord city.

The 230 meter-high dam has the capacity of storing 2.2 billion cubic meters of water.

The reservoir is designed to generate 1,000 MW of hydro-electricity and prevent downstream floods.
