MP: Talks Possible If Riyadh Readjusts Policy toward Uprisings

Ebrahimi made the remark in an interview with the Mehr News Agency on Saturday when asked about Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal’s statement on July 5, in which he expressed Riyadh’s interest in holding negotiations with Tehran and said Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has been invited to make a trip to Saudi Arabia.

“We cannot rule out the possibility of negotiating with Saudi Arabia on the condition that this country readjusts its policy toward revolutions taking place in regional countries,” said Ebrahimi, who is the deputy chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.

“Saudi Arabia must pull out its forces from Bahrain as soon as possible and acknowledge that regional countries are right instead of mobilizing its forces to confront them,” he added.

The cleric MP also said, “If Saudi Arabia corrects its policy and stop backing up dictators in Arab countries, negotiations could be held with this country.”
