Iran Keen on Cooperation with Singapore: Foreign Minister

TEHRAN, July 9 (ICANA) – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on economic cooperation with Singapore.

Salehi made the remarks in a farewell meeting with Singapore non-resident ambassador to Tehran Ong Keng Yong.

Pointing to the current friendly relations between the two counties, Salehi said Iran attaches importance to Singapore as trade partner.

He said that Singapore would enjoy trade with Iran to gain access to markets of the Middle East.

Salehi said that Iran and Singapore have extensive capacity to develop economic cooperation and officials of the two countries would work to keep up the level of trade consistent with the high capacity.

Salehi suggested that Singapore government would open up its own embassy in Tehran.

The Singapore ougoing Ambassador, Ong highlighted excellent relations between the two countries and hoped that Iran and Singapore would enhance economic cooperation to satisfactory level.
