Gaddafi Prepared to Leave: France

"We receive emissaries who are saying, 'Gaddafi is prepared to leave. Let's talk about it,'" Juppé told France Info radio on Tuesday.

Juppé dismissed reports that France was holding direst talks with the Gaddafi regime, The Telegraph reported.

“These are emissaries who say they are coming in the name of Gaddafi,” French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero told reporters.

Meanwhile, the French lower house of parliament voted Tuesday to extend France's military mission in Libya.

482 members of the National Assembly voted in support of the extension while 27 others disagreed with the measure.

In the upper house of parliament, the Senate, 311 members were in favor and 24 were against the issue.

A spokesman for the Libyan government said Tripoli “regretted” the deputies' decision.

The extension vote came after French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said a political solution to the Libya deadlock is taking shape.

"A political solution is more than ever indispensable and is beginning to take shape,” Fillon said in the lower house of parliament.

Budget Minister Valerie Pecresse has said French military operations in Libya have cost the European country about 160 million euros in more than three months of bombing.

French mission in Libya involves 4,400 people of whom 800 are based in France and the rest on foreign air bases or warships near Libya, according to the prime minster.
